Last Game
Drew Rasmussen scattered six hits and four runs in 7 1/3 innings as the Beavers dropped the second game of the series to Cal Poly, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium. Michael Howard and KJ Harrison each drove in runs; Harrison was 2-for-4. He was matched by Joe Gillette, who also had two hits. OSU managed nine hits in the loss.
Morrison Solid At Short
Sophomore Trever Morrison has, if nothing else, been extremely solid at shortstop this season. He had five assists in Saturday’s game, giving him 84 on the year. Morrison’s lone error came March 4 at Portland. He carries a .992 fielding percentage into Sunday’s series finale.
Average Attendance
Oregon State has had great crowds this season and that is expected to continue throughout the weekend as temperatures are rising and the sun is anticipated at Goss Stadium. The Beavers are averaging 2,676 per home date this season, which is less than 300 shy of last season’s school record for a single season. The Beavers have 15 more home dates through the regular season, with 12 of those coming in conference games against USC, Arizona, California and Utah.
Harrison Slowly Streaking
Freshman KJ Harrison had two hits in Saturday’s loss to extend his hit streak to a modest three games, where he is 5-for-12 with three runs driven in.
Singles
• OSU is 16-5 in non-conference play and needs just four victories to hit 20 for the seventh consecutive season.
• OSU is 15-3 this season when its pitcher throws a quality start.
• Both KJ Harrison and Gabe Clark are tied for the Pac-12 lead with seven home runs.
• Sunday’s game marks the midway point of the regular season for the Beavers, who are scheduled to play 55 games.
• Oregon State is looking to avoid losing three straight for the first time since the 2012 season. The Beavers last lost two consecutive non-conference home games to Long Beach State in 2010.
• Jeff Hendrix has one hit in each of his last four games.
• The OSU bullpen has a 2.50 earned run average in 36 innings in the month of March.
• Just three non-conference regular-season games remain after Sunday.
