Last Game
Drew Rasmussen threw the first perfect game in Oregon State history and the Beavers clinched the series victory with a 3-0 win over Washington State Saturday afternoon. Rasmussen struck out 10 in the win.
More On The Perfect Game
Drew Rasmussen’s perfect game Saturday was just the 24th since NCAA began tracking that record in 1957. According to the Pac-12 media guide, it was also just the fourth in league history - the first against a current league foe - and the first since the 1973 season. It was the sixth no-hitter in Oregon State history, and the fourth under head coach Pat Casey.
Clinched Series
Oregon State has clinched the series with the Cougars, giving the Beavers series victories in six of the last nine against WSU. Saturday’s win also marked the Beavers’ 200th all-time win against Washington State.
No Shock Here
The Oregon State pitching staff has been dominant in the first two games of the series. Andrew Moore, Luke Heimlich and Drew Rasmussen have combined to allow just six hits and one walk in 18 innings while striking out 21.
Full Note On Starters
Drew Rasmussen’s perfect game Saturday shines the light on the team’s starters this season. OSU’s starters have combined for a 9-2 record and 2.75 earned run average in 137 2/3 innings. Perhaps most impressive is the fact the starters have struck out 109 to just 26 walks, a 4.19:1 ratio. The starters’ WHIP is an outstanding 0.97.
Singles
• OSU’s freshmen have combined for four of the team’s 12 hits in the series thus far. More importantly, they have driven in four of the team’s eight runs.
• The Beavers are going for their first sweep of Washington State since taking all three games in 2006 in Pullman. OSU last swept WSU in Corvallis in 2005.
• Saturday’s win gave the Beavers 26 series victories over their last 32, an .813 percentage.
• The Beavers kept themselves just one game out of first place with Saturday’s victory. OSU is tied for fifth.
