Backlund and Cheshire to Play in Sand Tournament

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Dana Backlund and Kory Cheshire from the Oregon State volleyball team will be competing as an outside team in the Dad Center Founders Cup being played on Queen’s Beach in Waikiki beginning Saturday, March 21 with play through the weekend.
Backlund is a redshirt sophomore on the Oregon State volleyball team that reached the Sweet 16 during the 2014 season, while Cheshire will enter 2015 as a redshirt freshman.
The tournament will feature pool play on Saturday, followed by elimination bracket play Sunday. Also competing this weekend will be teams from UCLA, Oregon, CSU Northridge, Chaminade University of Honolulu, USC and High Point University.
Backlund and Cheshire will be matched up against USC and UCLA on Saturday, with the top two teams in the pool advancing to play on Sunday. The duo will face UCLA at 11 a.m. PT, followed by a match against USC at 1 p.m.
The tournament is part of the Hawaii Sand Volleyball Festival that will also feature multiple events throughout the weekend, including boys and girls junior sand tournaments.
