Tuiaki Named Special Teams Coordinator

Oregon State head football coach Gary Andersen announced Monday that Ilaisa Tuiaki (pronounced ee-lye-sa too-ee-ah-kee) has added the duties of special teams coordinator to his role as inside linebackers coach for the Beavers.
Tuiaki is in his first season at OSU after spending the last three years at the University of Utah. While with the Utes he spent two years coaching the defensive line, and one year mentoring the fullbacks and tight ends. Tuiaki has experience with special teams, holding that position at Utah State under Coach Andersen for the 2009-10 seasons.
“Coach Tuiaki is well prepared for his expanded role and excited about the responsibility,” Coach Andersen said.
Spring football practice officially begins Tuesday, March 3 with the 15-day session culminating with the annual Spring Game at Reser Stadium Saturday, April 21.
The response has been strong to the Coach Andersen hire as season ticket sales are pacing at nearly a 50 percent rate above last year with the excitement continuing to build for the new era of Beaver football. The season officially kicks off Friday, Sept. 4 at Reser Stadium vs. Weber State in a nationally televised game.
