Beavers Open Spring Season at Gonzaga

The Oregon State women’s rowing team opens the 2015 spring season when it races at Gonzaga Sunday on Silver Lake near Spokane, Wash. The Beavers, who did not race in the fall, will have all new crews racing together for the first time. OSU crews will compete in five races, the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8, Varsity 4+ and Second Varsity 4+.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Racing for the Beavers at Gonzaga runs from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday.9:10 a.m. – Women’s Third Varsity 8
9:30 a.m. – Women’s First Varsity 8
9:50 a.m. – Women’s Second Varsity 8
10:00 a.m. – Women’s First Varsity 4+
10:10 a.m. – Women’s Second Varsity 4+

QUOTING HEAD COACH EMILY FORD: “We want to go out and put our best foot forward. We didn’t race in the fall, so we’ve been preparing and training a lot and all that’s left is to perform on race day.”

LAST YEAR AGAINST GONZAGA: The Beavers and Zags met twice in 2014 opening the season at Dexter Lake where OSU’s top First, Second and Third Varsity 8’s all claimed victory, while Gonzaga’s First and Second Varsity 4’s came out on top. The two squads met again at the Clemson Invitational once again with mixed results. The V8 and V4+ crews each split a pair of races while OSU’s 2V8 won twice.
