QUOTING INTERIM HEAD COACH GABE WINKLER: “We’re looking to gain a little more speed than we showed at Victoria. We’ve made subtle lineup changes but we expect to make improvements. Gonzaga is a quality opponent and it is important to show well for IRA (Intercollegiate Rowing Association) Championships selection later in the spring.”
“This is a good start to Spring Break. We’ll do a lot of training during the break and starting it off with a racing intensity will be good.
LAST YEAR AGAINST GONZAGA: Oregon State faced Gonzaga twice in 2014 racing to wins in the Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8 and the Varsity 4+ at Dexter Lake. The Beavs and Zags hooked up a second time at Lake Vancouver where OSU’s V8, JV8 and 3V8 again handled Gonzaga’s crews but lost in the Freshman 8.
