Oregon State Quotes vs. Stanford
Head Coach Scott Rueck
Opening Statement…
“Stanford played a great game tonight. They came in with nothing to lose, played loose, and hit big shots all game long. They had a good defensive plan against us and we just never got comfortable. It was such a unique situation, we didn’t play with the aggressiveness and composure that we are used to playing with. It was kind of a unique night but it was unique in a lot of ways. Being ahead of Stanford in the standings, understanding all those things, and playing a team that we haven’t seen in 14 months. I thought a lot of the strange dynamics caused us to not get comfortable and hats off to them.”
On the difficulty playing Stanford…
“The way they are playing is very non traditional. They took advantage of that and we were not able to. Our advantage was clearly Ruth in the inside, but we were not able to get here going. Then we didn’t shoot the three well enough to make them pay for all the help on the inside. So it was one of those things. Two different styles of play and their’s was more affective tonight.”
Junior Jamie Weisner
On not being able to get comfortable tonight…
“I think they came out and hit us first, from there we were always on our heels. From there it was the same thing in the second half, they came out again and jumped on us. From there it was scoreboard pressure and we weren’t exactly matching that.”
Junior Deven Hunter
Feelings the team’s attitude pregame...
"I didn't sense any nerves before the game. I didn't feel like we were nervous, but [tonight's game] was a unique situation that most of us have never been in, especially at the college level. It's Stanford. Tara is a great coach and whatever they do, they do at a high level. We expected them to come out with a lot of energy, like they did, and have a great game plan."
