Last Game
Jeff Hendrix’s sacrifice fly in the 12th inning served as the game-winner for the Beavers in a 4-3 win over Oregon Tuesday night at PK Park in Eugene. Hendrix was 2-for-5 with three RBI while Scott Schultz got the win with 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Conforto Looking For A Record
Michael Conforto’s three RBI on Sunday against California pushed him to 49 on the year - second to Dylan Davis’ 54 - and 172 for his career. He is now one RBI shy of tying Andy Jarvis for the most in Oregon State history. Conforto’s home run Sunday was also the 29th of his career, moving him into sole possession of third in school history.
Bullpen Comes Up Big
Five Oregon State relievers combined to see action on Tuesday night against the Ducks, and the ‘pen was solid. OSU’s relievers allowed seven hits and four walks in 10 innings of work. The group’s lone run was unearned, coming in the fourth.
A Note On Wetzler
Saturday’s probable starter, Ben Wetzler, has been nothing short of dominating in games at Goss Stadium this season. The lefty is 5-0 with a 0.45 ERA in five starts at home. He’s averaged eight innings per start and has allowed 16 hits and eight walks while striking out 33.
Peterson Ties The Streak
Andy Peterson already owned the team’s longest hit streak of the season and equaled it at 10 games with two hits in Tuesday’s win over Oregon. The senior is 14-for-46 (.304) with 11 runs scored and five RBI during the current streak.
Singles
• The Beavers are 16-3 (.842) at Goss Stadium this season. OSU is 84-21 (.800) at home dating back to the 2011 season. Four more wins would give OSU at least 20 at home in four of the last five seasons.
• A win would keep OSU in pace with the 2005 and 2013 clubs for the best record (36-8) through 44 games in a season. Both teams improved that mark to 41-8 before losing the ninth game of the season.
• Head coach Pat Casey owns 24 of the Beavers’ 27 all-time wins versus UCLA.
• OSU is 13-2 in night games this season, including an 8-0 mark at home.
• OSU is 28-0 when leading in hits.
