Beavs Ready for IRA Nationals

Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s rowing team travels to New Jersey for the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships, set for May 30-June 1.
Oregon State was awarded an At-Large bid after their solid performance at the Pac-2 Championships on May 18, as well as big-time victories during the season. The Beavs will be sending three boats: the Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8, and Third Varsity 8.
The Beavers have raced against several of the other crews selected for Nationals, including Drexel, Gonzaga, Stanford, California, Washington, and Wisconsin. A total 24 teams will be racing this weekend.
"The chance to test themselves against the best is the reason behind all the work these guys do all year,” said Head Coach Steve Todd. “The challenge of championship racing is what the team is eager for.”
This is Oregon State’s second straight appearance at the IRA Nationals. Last year, the Beavers sent four boats and finished 17th overall. This year, Todd and his crew are looking to improve not only on last year’s finish, but on this season’s times.
The Championships start Friday at 8:00 a.m. ET, and will continue through Sunday.
