Last Game
Ben Wetzler held Washington to two hits and two walks in a complete-game shutout and Caleb Hamilton and Jerad Casper drove in runs during a three-run fourth in OSU’s 3-0 win Sunday at Goss Stadium. Wetzler did not allow Washington to put a runner in scoring position and picked up his 10th win of the season after striking out nine.
Beavers Are No. 1
Oregon State is the unanimous No. 1 team in the country after taking the series over Washington. It’s Oregon State’s first No. 1 appearance in the Baseball America rankings since taking the 2007 national championship. The Beavers have been ranked in the top five of all five major polls the past six weeks. The team’s worst spot this season? Try eighth, where OSU was ranked in different weeks.
Staff Over The Last 10
The Oregon State pitching staff, as can be expected, has been dominant over the past 10 games en route to a 9-1 mark. The staff has a 1.53 earned run average in its last 94 innings, allowing just 16 earned runs and 67 hits while striking out 68. Opponents have a .206 batting average.
At Home
The Beavers ended the regular season with a 21-4 record at Goss Stadium, an outstanding .840 winning percentage. Opponents scored a total of 44 runs in the 25 games, an average of 1.76 per game. The OSU offense, meanwhile, scored 127, or an average of 5.08 per game.
Home Attendance
Oregon State ended the regular season with a total home crowd of 65,062, which, averaged out over 23 home dates (including doubleheaders), is 2,828. The Beavers saw eight crowds of 3,000 or more at home and all 23 were at least at 2,000.
