Last Game
Andrew Moore allowed five hits and three runs over 5 2/3 innings as the Beavers lost, 4-2, to Washington in the three-game series opener on Friday. Andy Peterson and Trever Morrison led the Beavers with two hits apiece. OSU managed to pull within one in the fifth, but the Huskies, who scored three in the second, scored a solo run in the eighth.
Senior Day Saturday
Oregon State is scheduled to hold its 2014 Senior Day ceremony prior to Saturday’s game. Seniors to be honored are: Brian Richardson (manager), Jerad Casper, Kavin Keyes, Andy Peterson, Ben Wetzler, Brandon Jackson, Scott Schultz and Nick Rulli. Keyes, Wetzler and Schultz have been with the program for four seasons. The ceremony is slated to begin at 3:40 p.m. PT.
Big Day For ‘Pen
Oregon State used six pitchers in relief on Friday, and the bullpen combined to allow one hit and one unearned run in 3 1/3 innings. The bullpen has a 3-1 record and 2.13 ERA in 25 1/3 innings in May. It also has a 3-1 record and 1.47 ERA in 49 home innings.
Morrison Note
Freshman Trever Morrison has hit safely in five of his last six games, and has multi-hit efforts in two of those games. Better yet, Morrison has six runs batted in over the last five games, certainly made possible by triples against UCLA and Washington.
Closer Look At Jace Fry
Oregon State probable starter, Jace Fry, has been outstanding this season. The lefty has pitched in six games at Goss Stadium this season, going 5-1 with a 1.51 earned run average in 47 2/3 innings. In his last two starts at home, against Oregon and UCLA, he has combined for 16 innings with five hits and two earned runs allowed (1.13 ERA). Fry has struck out 18 batters during that stretch.
Singles
• OSU is looking to win its 40th game for the fourth consecutive season. Prior to 2011, the Beavers had won 40 or more in a season just three times in their history: 2005 (46), 2006 (50) and 2007 (49).
• OSU is ranked in the top five of all five major polls for the fifth consecutive week.
• The 230 wins all-time against Washington is most by the Beavers against any one opponent.
• Brandon Jackson has inherited 17 runners this season. Only one has scored (5.9 percent).
