Last Game
Dylan Davis hit a seventh-inning grand slam and threw five shutout innings as the Beavers defeated Portland for the 21st consecutive time with an 8-4 win in front of 4,226 fans in Keizer, Ore., on Tuesday night. Davis drove in five runs, including a sacrifice fly, and struck out five with one hit allowed in a start. Gabe Clark and Jeff Hendrix each had two hits.
Holding A One-Game Lead
Oregon State comes into the series with Washington holding a one-game lead in the race for the Pac-12 Conference crown, with six league games remaining for both clubs. The Beavers, in the last two seasons, have been in first place 23 of a possible 54 days (42.6 percent). They’ve been in first or second place a total of 50 dates (92.5 percent).
Davis Riding An Eight-Gamer
Dylan Davis, fresh off his grand slam effort on Tuesday, is on an eight-game hit streak as the Beavers enter the series with the Huskies. It’s a season-long for the junior. He is 12-for-34 (.353) with five runs, 15 RBI, two doubles and two home runs during it.
Keep Filling The Stands
This weekend’s series is a sellout, which will enable the Beavers to increase their already impressive home attendance average. The Beavers enter the weekend at 2,757 fans per home game, which if the season ended today, would be the new school record, surpassing last season’s record mark of 2,676. Every home crowd has been at 2,000 or more with six surpassing 3,000.
At Home
Oregon State carries a 19-3 mark at home into Friday’s opener, and is looking to reach the 20-win plateau for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The Beavers are 108-32 (.771) at Goss Stadium since 2010.
Singles
• OSU is looking to win its 40th game for the fourth consecutive season. Prior to 2011, the Beavers had won 40 or more in a season just three times in their history: 2005 (46), 2006 (50) and 2007 (49).
• OSU is ranked in the top five of all five major polls for the fifth consecutive week.
• The 230 wins all-time against Washington is most by the Beavers against any one opponent.
• OSU is 32-4 when scoring first and 31-0 when recording more hits than their opponent.
• OSU has allowed 40 runs at home in 22 games. That’s an average of 1.8 per game.
