Last Game
Michael Conforto hit two home runs and drove in five to become OSU’s all-time record holder in RBI to highlight the Beavers’ 11-2 win over UCLA on Sunday. The win gave the Beavers a sweep of the Bruins, and the club’s 20th conference win of the year. OSU scored 11 unanswered runs after UCLA opened the game with two in the first. Jace Fry allowed those runs, with two hits in the inning. He, however, allowed just two hits in his last seven innings of work to improve to 10-1 this season.
Going For 21
Oregon State is going for its 21st consecutive win over Portland, which would equal the program’s longest winning streak over the Pilots, accomplished from 1959-69. The Beavers are 5-6 all-time against the Pilots in neutral-site games, last defeating UP in Keizer last season.
Hendrix Is Top Pac-12 Player
Jeff Hendrix had an outstanding week for the Beavers, batting .444 (8-for-18) with six runs, five RBI, two doubles, a home run and two stolen bases. He was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week Monday, joining Jace Fry and Michael Conforto as players recognized by the league this season.
Neutral-Site
Oregon State is 6-2 in neutral-site games this season, with all eight coming in the first two weeks of the season. The Beavers are hitting .297 as a team in such games, and have a 3.00 ERA.
Home Run Kind Of Day
The Beavers’ four home runs Sunday were easily a season-high, surpassing the two hit against Northern Illinois earlier in the year. The four is the most since four were hit May 18, 2012 at Washington State. It’s OSU’s highest output at Goss Stadium since pelting four against California on March 30, 2003.
Singles
• The Beavers have very similar non-conference and conference records this season. OSU is 18-4 against non-league foes and 20-4 in league play.
• The Beavers have stayed perfect when leading an opponent in hits. OSU is 30-0 when that happens this season.
• The Beavers have won 11 consecutive games and are 18-2 in their last 20 games.
• OSU is ranked in the top five in each of the top five major polls for the fifth consecutive week. The Beavers did not move any spots this week.
• OSU’s pitching staff has allowed 11 hits in 18 innings against Portland in 2014. The staff has walked eight and struck out 21.
