No. 18 Oregon State Ready for Husky Invitational
Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s rowing team heads to Seattle for the Husky Open on Saturday.
Oregon State last raced against Gonzaga and the University of Victoria at Dexter Lake four weeks ago, the V8+ finishing in second.
"The team is eager to get back on the racecourse,” said Head Coach Steve Todd. “With finals and spring break it's been nearly a month since we've seen another school in competition."
Saturday, the Beavers will be racing against the University of Washington and Drexel, a true test of their training the past month.
This week, Oregon State’s Varsity 8 is ranked No. 18 by Row 2K’s Collegiate Rowing Polls. The Huskies are currently ranked No. 3, while Drexel is ranked No. 19. Both squads will prevent a challenge for the Beavs, particularly Drexel as they are evenly ranked.
"This weekend is all about opportunity,” Todd said. “We have a chance to race a top-three crew and the chance to match up against a team that we do not usually race in the regular season."
