Beavers Set To Host Oregon State Classic
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State Women's Rowing team will host the second annual Oregon State Classic on Saturday at Dexter Lake in Lowell, Ore.
The regatta will feature five of the best teams from around the nation, including No. 3 Ohio State, No. 9 Michigan, No. 11 Stanford and Duke. The Beavers just recently picked up their first Top 20 ranking since 2010, being voted No. 20 in the nation by the CRCA on Wednesday.
Racing will begin at 9 a.m. with the Second Varsity 4 getting things started. The morning session will continue until 10:45 a.m. when the Varsity 8 boats hit the water.
Just a few hours later, the afternoon session will commence at 2 p.m. with a 2V4 race and will wrap up at 3 p.m. with the Open 4.
“I want to start by thanking our friends at OAR and the parks in Lowell for their assistance with the venue," Oregon State head coach Emily Ford said. "To be able to host such high caliber competition right here in our own back yard is awesome. Thank you to Stanford, Duke, Ohio State and Michigan for traveling here to race us. I hope that we’ll get a great group of spectators down at Dexter Lake as it will be an incredible opportunity to see some of the best teams in the country go at it on the race course.”
GETTING TO DEXTER LAKE
From I-5 North or South: - Take Exit 188A Highway 58/Willamette Hwy - Towards Oakridge - Follow Highway 58 East for approximately 13.5 miles - Left at Jasper-Lowell Rd. (Covered Bridge is on left-hand side right before the turn) - Follow Jasper-Lowell Rd. for 0.7 Miles - Left on North Shore Dr. - North Shore Dr. turns into Pengra Rd. - Lowell Recreation Site is located 0.7 miles from turn on the left hand side.
