Headline Performers Highlight The Other Side

The 11th Annual The Other Side Talent Show and Silent Auction will be held April 30 at the LaSells Stewart Center across from Reser Stadium. The Talent Show begins at 7 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. as does the Silent Auction. Suggested donations of $5 for the general public and $2 for OSU students will be accepted at the door with proceeds benefitting the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the OSU Emergency Food Pantry.
This event features the hidden talents (song & dance) of current and former student-athletes as a way of honoring two men’s soccer players who passed away unexpectedly in 2002 – Stephen Hensor and Joe Zaher. The Talent Show was launched by former women’s soccer standout and SAAC President Courtney Carter to honor these young men. The headliners of the evening will perform individually and as a group, and include former student-athletes Bryan Ingram (baseball), Kurt Van Meter (football), Alexa Wiley (women’s soccer) and Julie Williams (volleyball). Most of OSU’s 17 intercollegiate sports teams will also have representatives participate.
The show’s judges include head football coach Mike Riley and his wife Dee; men’s golf assistant coach and former Beaver student-athlete Jonnie Motomochi, assistant men’s soccer coach Dustin Norman and athletic trainers Lisa Vanhoose and Jordyn Eisenhard.
Alumni Headliners
Bryan Ingram
A forward-thinker in multiple industries, Ingram’s scope and influence spans far and wide. The Everett, Wash. native lent his musical talents as a songwriter and composer to CBS, ABC and Fuel TV along with advertising campaigns for Adidas Originals and promotional spots for the CW Network's “One Tree Hill”, “Smallville” and “Supernatural.” Ingram also contributed his efforts as an executive producer for the theatrical documentary, “Isolated”, alongside actor/director Ryan Phillippe. One of Ingram's additional passions is Music 4 The Kids, an organization that uses music as an outlet for children with terminal illnesses to help them process their emotions.
Alexa Wiley
Alexa Wiley and the Wilderness have opened for and played with an outrageous range of fellow musicians, from legendary American folk icon Michael Hurley to brilliant Oregon artists such as Lincoln Crockett, Lex Browning, Paul Evans, Jim Brunberg, Les Vaughn, Ted Matzen, fisher poet David Densmore, and local Portland favorites such as Steve Dearborn, the Outdoorsmen band, and Dale Turnbill. Alexa's style is in the spirit of the folk tradition. Her songs are a mix of poetry, jazz, world beat, country, rock, and folk.
Julie Williams and Shelly Willis
Corvallis artists, Julie and Shelley, bring Absolute Acapella to stage and will be reaching out to softball and volleyball student-athletes to assist with one performance as human percussionists. Absolute Acapella has performed in numerous Pacific Northwest venues over the last 12 years.
Kurt Van Meter
Country/Rock recording artist Kurt Van Meter stole the show during Homecoming last fall in the Merritt Truax Indoor Center with his rocking performance! This summer he's invited to perform at the Willamette Country Music Festival in Brownsville, Ore., on the main stage with the likes of Blake Shelton, Gary Allen, and Eric Church.
