Volleyball Signs Kory Cheshire

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State volleyball head coach Taras Liskevych announced Wednesday that the Beavers have signed outside hitter Kory Cheshire to a National Letter of Intent for the 2014 season.
Cheshire, who stands 6-foot-1, hails from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, and is a three-year letterwinner at the high school level, starring at Central Catholic and Chinook High Schools.
“We are excited to have her join the program,” Liskevych said. “She is a very six-skilled volleyball player who, added to the group we have coming in, will make it very interesting in contesting the outside hitting position next season. She is an athlete who aspires to be a part of the Canadian National Program. We think the sky is the limit for her. We really look forward to her arrival.”
Cheshire is coming off a 2013 season that saw her named to the Southern Alberta High School First-Team. She helped Chinook to a 4A Provincial championship as well as a league title. It came a year after she was named the Southern Alberta Most Valuable Player in leading the team to its first of two consecutive provincial titles.
She was named the Rookie of the Year during the 2011-12 academic year after helping lead Central Catholic to a consolation finish at 4A Provincials.
During her career, Cheshire has also excelled at the club and national levels. She competed for Lethbridge Flare Volleyball in 2011-12 and was a provincial gold medalist and all-star. In 2012, she competed for Team Alberta White, serving as the team’s captain, and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Western Elite Tournament. In 2012-13, she was a 17U provincial gold medalist and helped her club to a 17U & under Canadian Open national championship.
A three-sport athlete, she has also lettered in basketball and track and field.
