No. 18 OSU to Take on Gonzaga and No. 8 Stanford
Corvallis, Ore. – The No. 18 Oregon State men’s rowing team takes on Gonzaga and No. 8 Stanford this weekend in Lake Vancouver, Wash.
The Beavers raced No. 19 Drexel and No. 3 Washington last Saturday, the Varsity 8 placing second behind the Huskies with a time of 6:01.4.
"It was exciting to see the Varsity 8 execute their races just like they have at practice” said Head Coach Steve Todd, after the Husky Open last Saturday. “You always make a race plan and want to follow that plan, but often in the race other factors cause you to vary.”
Todd has seen steps of improvement in the Varsity 8 throughout the season, and is looking for the same against Gonzaga on Saturday, and Stanford on Sunday.
The Beavers raced Gonzaga earlier this year, the Varsity 8 posting a time of 6:02.0 to the Bulldogs’ 6:11.9. Oregon State has yet to go head-to-head with Stanford this year and will see how they match up against another highly ranked team.
Saturday’s races against Gonzaga will start at 9 a.m. PT, and Sunday’s against Stanford will begin at 8:30 a.m. PT. Both races are set to take place on Lake Vancouver, Wash.
