Men's Rowing to Start Spring Season at Dexter Lake
Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s rowing team is set to race Gonzaga and the University of Victoria on Saturday in its first installment of the spring season at Dexter Lake in Lowell, Ore.
The Beavers rowed in two separate events this past fall: Portland Fall Classic and the Head of the Lake Regatta. At the Fall Classic, Oregon State’s Varsity 8+ took first with a fastest time of 15:40:20. A week later in Seattle, Oregon State’s varsity crew finished second at the Head of the Lake after posting a time of 16:04:43.
After a long winter off-season, the Beavers are back and in full competition mode. Come Saturday, the Beavs will be racing two Freshmen/Third Varsity 8+ boats, Junior Varsity 8+, Varsity 8+, and two Varsity 4+ boats.
At 9 a.m. Oregon State’s Freshmen/Third Varsity 8+ boats will be in Lane 1 and 2, while Gonzaga will be in Lane 3. The next men’s race will start at 9:30, featuring OSU’s Junior Varsity 8+ in Lane 1, University of Victoria in Lane 2 and Gonzaga in Lane 3.
Oregon State’s Varsity 8+ is set to race at 10 a.m. in Lane 1, while Victoria races in Lane 2 and Gonzaga in Lane 3. The men’s team will wrap up their morning with the Varsity 4+ crews racing in Lanes 1 and 3, and Victoria racing in Lane 2.
Saturday’s race is set to begin at 9 a.m. at Dexter Lake. The Oregon State women’s rowing team will also be racing Saturday against Gonzaga and the University of Victoria. The races throughout the morning will be interspersed.
Getting to Dexter LakeFrom I-5 North or South:
- Take Exit 188A Highway 58/Willamette Hwy - Towards Oakridge
- Follow Highway 58 East for approximately 13.5 miles
- Left at Jasper-Lowell Rd. (Covered Bridge is on left-hand side right before the turn)
- Follow Jasper-Lowell Rd. for 0.7 Miles
- Left on North Shore Dr. - North Shore Dr. turns into Pengra Rd.
- Lowell Recreation Site is located 0.7 miles from turn on the left hand side.
