Last Game
Jeff Hendrix, Dylan Davis and Logan Ice all tallied two hits in an 11-2 Oregon State loss to Arizona on Saturday afternoon. Andrew Moore started but lasted only three innings after allowing 10 hits and six runs. The Wildcats took a 6-0 lead after three innings and the Beavers, who had at least one runner in all nine innings, were not able to overcome that advantage.
Offensive Series
Oregon State and Arizona have utilized their offenses in the matching 11-2 games. Oregon State is hitting .370 in the series while Arizona has hit at a .338 clip. The teams have combined for 14 extra base hits - of 53 hits overall - with nine belonging to the Beavers. Dylan Davis leads OSU with three doubles while he and Jeff Hendrix have six hits overall.
Peterson, Conforto, Davis Streaking
Andy Peterson, Dylan Davis and Michael Conforto all extended hit streaks in Saturday’s loss. Peterson moved his to nine games with a 1-for-4 effort, and is 12-for-37 (.324) with eight runs during it. Davis, meanwhile, went 2-for-5 and is 9-for-18 (.500) with three doubles and eight RBI during his four-gamer. Conforto is also on a four-gamer, which is a season-best, and he is 6-for-17 (.353) during it.
Then What Happened
Oregon State is certainly looking to 2011 as an example after losing by a large margin. The Beavers were defeated, 18-0, at Arizona to open conference play in 2011. OSU proceeded to win the final two games of the series en route to an 11-game win streak after the loss.
He’s Moving Up
Kavin Keyes had one hit in Saturday’s loss, giving him 194 for his career. That pushes the senior into a 10th-place tie with Mitch Canham (2004-07) for most hits in a career. He now needs four to tie for ninth. Hot on Keyes’ heels, however, is Michael Conforto, who has 189 hits for his career.
Singles
• Dylan Davis has four multi-hit efforts in his last six games. The junior has nine overall on the year.
• The Beavers are 5-1 on Sundays, including a 3-0 mark away from Goss Stadium.
• Dylan Davis moved into sole possession of sixth place in OSU history with 41 doubles after posting one in the ninth on Saturday.
• OSU’s error Saturday was its first since the opener against Arizona State and just the third in eight Pac-12 games.
