Last Game
Arizona State scored solo runs in both the ninth and 10th innings for a come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Beavers Saturday at Goss Stadium. Andrew Moore worked 8 2/3 innings, allowing 10 hits with five strikeouts but did not figure in the decision. Scott Schultz took the loss in 1 1/3 innings.
Still Another Quality Start
The Beavers may have lost on Saturday but the team’s starting staff keeps rolling on. Andrew Moore qualified for the Beavers’ 19th quality start of the season with two earned runs in 8 2/3 innings. OSU is 16-3 when getting a quality start but 1-3 when an opponent does, which was the case with Ryan Kellogg’s nine innings on Saturday.
Defense
Oregon State has gone errorless in six of its last seven games and nine in 11 after playing solid defense on Saturday (including a jumping catch by Jerad Casper and a caught stealing by Logan Ice). Saturday, however, was an anamoly as Oregon State is now 16-1 when committing one error or less in a game.
Attendance Keeps Rising
The 3,021 in attendance Saturday marked a season high for a home game for the Beavers. OSU has drawn crowds of 2,000-plus for each of its 10 home dates, and is averaging 2,500 fans per game at Goss Stadium. Overall, an average of 1,972 are at games this season regardless of location.
All Good But The 9th
Oregon State has outscored its opponents in every inning this season, except for the ninth, where opposing clubs have a 17-2 advantage. The Beavers have combined to outscore opponents, 48-12, in the first three innings of games. That disparity moves to 65-16 in innings four through six.
Singles
• The Beavers are looking to win their 25th conference series in their last 31 dating back to the 2011 season. OSU has won its last nine at home since a 2-1 series loss to Arizona in 2012.
• OSU is also looking to win its fourth straight home series vs. ASU and fifth in its last six dating back to 2005.
• A win Sunday would push OSU to 5-1 in conference play for the second consecutive season and third time since 2011.
• OSU is 15-3 when scoring first.
