Beavers To Host CBI Game Wednesday

THE GAME: Oregon State (16-15, 8-10 Pac-12) will host the Radford Highlanders (21-12, 10-6 Big South) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Gill Coliseum in the opening round of the seventh annual College Basketball Invitational (CBI).
TELEVISION: The game will not be televised.
LIVE STREAM: The game will not be televised but will be streamed live for free via Oregon State’s Pac-12 portal.
RADIO: The game will air live on Beaver Sports Radio Network with Mike Parker calling the action.
SOCIAL MEDIA: Live updates will be available on Twitter and Facebook.
TICKETS: Ticket sales will begin on Monday at noon for current season ticket holders who call 800-GO-BEAVS or stop by Gill Coliseum. At 6 p.m. on Monday all unsold inventory will be released for sales online at beavertickets.com and continue when the ticket office opens at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Fans are encouraged to print their tickets at home due to the short turnaround. Ticket prices are $30 for VIP seats, $25 for premium chairback, $20 for regular chairback, $15 for lower bench and $10 for upper bench.STUDENT TICKETS: The first 1,000 Oregon State students, with OSU student ID, will be admitted for free. The doors at Gill Coliseum will open one hour before the start of the game. After the first 1,000 tickets are issued, the OSU student ticket price will be $5.
POSTSEASON HISTORY: The Beavers will be making their 24th postseason trip in school history with 16 NCAA Tournament, four NIT and four CBI appearances. This is the fourth time in six years Oregon State will compete in the CBI, having captured the Championship in 2009 when the Beavers went 5-1 and defeated UTEP in a best-of-three series in the third game in El Paso, Texas. OSU fell to Boston University in the opening round in 2010 and went 2-1 in 2012 with wins over Western Illinois and TCU before falling to Washington State.
CBI INFORMATION: The CBI is a 16 team, single-elimination tournament, up until the Championship Series, with all games being played at campus sites of the higher seed. The Championship Series will be a best-of-three series. The event will feature eight first-round games, four quarterfinal games, a semifinal round and the Championship Series.
The first round games will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday. The quarterfinal round will take place on Monday, March 24 with semifinal games being played on Wednesday, March 26. The Championship Series begins on Monday, March 31 and continues on Wednesday, April 2. Should a third game be necessary, it will be played on Friday, April 4.
Other past CBI champions beside Oregon State include Tulsa, VCU, Oregon, Pittsburgh, and Santa Clara. Teams from nearly every major conference and mid-major conference have participated in the event. Eighteen teams have used the CBI to springboard to the NCAA Tournament the following year, while another 10 have gone on to the NIT.
TV INFORMATION: CBS Sports Network will serve as the television home for the CBI, airing two quarterfinal round games and the best-of-three Championship Series. TEAM INFORMATION: Oregon State sits at 16-15 overall and 8-10 in Pac-12 play with several big wins this season. The 16 victories are more than it finished with in 20 of the past 23 seasons and the 8-10 conference mark equals its best Pac-12 record since 1993. Four of the conference wins came against NCAA Tournament teams in UCLA, Arizona State, Oregon and Stanford. The Beavers also defeated an ACC team on the road for the first time in school history when they knocked off Maryland in College Park, Md.
Radford is 21-12 overall and finished 10-6 in the Big South Conference. The Highlanders are led by 6-foot-4 junior Javonte Green, who earned First Team All-Conference honors after averaging a team-best 17.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He led the Big South in steals (2.0) and finished second in field goal percentage (.547). R.J. Price (13.1), Ya Ya Anderson (11.4) and Rashun Davis (10.2) also averaged double-figure scoring.
Radford, which is located in Radford, Va., advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1998 and 2009 after winning the Big South Conference Tournament.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Oregon State and Radford.
