Last Game
Mak Fox tossed 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and Dylan Davis drove in the game-winning run in the fifth inning to send the Beavers to a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Ohio State Tuesday at Goss Stadium. The Beavers were down 3-0 after one but tied the game in the second on the strength of a Logan Ice sacrifice fly and a two-run error on the Buckeyes. Trent Shelton earned the save.
Fry Picks Up Honors
Jace Fry was named the Pac-12’s Pitcher of the Week for the second time of his career on Tuesday after throwing the fifth no-hitter in Oregon State history last weekend. The lefty was also recognized as a national player of the week by Collegiate Baseball.
Big Day For The ‘Pen
Oregon State’s bullpen was stellar in Tuesday’s win, tossing eight scoreless innings and allowing six hits and one walk. The bullpen has a 1.48 earned run average in 24 1/3 innings in the month of March after posting a 6.88 ERA in 17 innings in February.
Last 10
Oregon State is on a seven-game win streak and is 9-1 in its last 10 games. Over that stretch, the Beavers are batting .270 as a team but opponents are at an incredible .155 mark. The Beavers’ staff has a 1.23 earned run average over that stretch, and has thrown 63 strikeouts to just 21 walks. Opponents have walked the Beavers 65 times to just 42 strikeouts.
Getting Started In Conference Play
The Beavers have won their first conference series in each of the last six seasons and in nine of the last 10 years. Most recently, Oregon State swept Arizona in Tucson last year and swept California in Berkeley in 2012.
