Jace Fry Named Pac-12 Pitcher Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Oregon State left-hander Jace Fry has been named the Pac-12 Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
Fry tossed the fifth no-hitter in Oregon State history on Saturday, striking out a career-best 10 in the Beavers’ 2-0 win over Northern Illinois in the first game of a doubleheader. He walked just two, and at two separate points, retired 13 consecutive batters. He improved to 3-0 on the year with the no-hitter.
Fry’s earned run average stands at 2.01 as he and the Beavers prepare to visit Utah in the club’s Pac-12 opening series in Salt Lake City this weekend. OSU sports the Pac-12’s best team ERA at 1.97.
The honor is the second of Fry’s career and first since his freshman year, 2012. OSU now has 70 all-time Pitcher of the Week honors, which trails only Stanford. Twenty-four of the 70 have come since the then-Pac-10 unified prior to the 1999 season.
Fry’s weekly honor is the second of the season after Michael Conforto was named the Player of the Week after the Beavers’ first three games.
The Beavers conclude their 10-game homestand against Ohio State at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets can be purchased via BeaverTickets.com, by calling 1-800-GOBEAVS or visiting the ticket office at Goss Stadium, which will open at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
