Oregon State Quotes vs. Concordia
Head Coach Scott Rueck
On the takeaways from a game like this…
"Every time out you want to get better. I thought we improved a lot, especially with our defensive positioning. We anticipated very well, we played angles very well and we handled on-ball screens accurately, which was a weakness last week. Offensively we shared the ball really well and you see that with 30 assists. It was a good game we were very accurate. "
On having six players in double figures back-to-back games…
"I love it; that's where we are headed. Everyone is finding their niche now. For Jen’Von’Ta (Hill) and Marie (Gulich) to get such long minutes today was good. And we are using Sam (Siegner) at the wing and that's new for her. It’s really vital that we get them time and significant time at that. We were able to do that so far with our scheduled."
Center Ruth Hamblin
On holding Concordia to 9 points in the first half…
“I thought we just came in with the right mindset. We didn’t relax and we just wanted to play our best basketball, which I thought we did.”
On how the team has improved so far in the first three games…
“I think we have just established our playing style as a team. We have some new people coming in, so we are just getting on a roll and getting familiar with each other. It will be good to get on the road now and play some tougher opponents. It will be a good test for us and I think we’re ready for the challenge.”
Junior Jamie Weisner
On how it felt to knock down some shots in the first half...
“It felt really good. It's always nice to start sinking those kind of shots . I think I missed a couple earlier in the game, but coach told me to just do what I do and eventually we were able to start rolling."
