Oregon State Quotes vs. Utah State
Coach Scott Rueck
On how Kolbie Orum came off the bench today and how she played this weekend…
“We just mentioned that in the locker room, how well Kolbie played. She really sparked us. She spent time at the four and the five this weekend and just played huge for us. She brought great energy at both ends of the floor. She was the one everyone came up and was talking to me about at the end, and for good reason. We needed her energy, I thought she was the key to the first half.”
On what the team needs to work on after this weekend…
“We allowed them to shoot 43 percent, last year our opponents shot 34 percent. We gave up over 60 points both nights, that is not how we play. The second half tonight was how we play. We just need to remember who we are and get everyone to that level defensively. Then offensive execution and continuing to develop depth on our team; those are things that just take time and they will come.”
Sophomore Kolbie Orum
On her performance…
"I came into the game just knowing I had to be aggressive and come in with a lot of energy. I tried to keep my energy up on the bench before I went in, so that when I came in I was already into the game."
Freshman Sydney Wiese
On getting a spark off the bench…
"Like coach said we started a little flat to day and I think we just had to have some kind of spark. I think Jen (Hill) and Kolbie (Orum) provided that for us. I think what’s special about our team: you don’t know who is going to bring that energy to the game.”
