What do you look for in prospective team members?
Prospective rowers come from all kinds of athletic backgrounds
Primarily we look for:
• Strong overall athleticism
• Height & long limbs (generally 5’8 or taller) are distinct advantages
• Excellent work ethic
• Passion for physical challenge
• Desire to be part of a competitive team
We invite smaller athletes (around 110 lbs) with strong leadership skills to tryout for the position of Coxswain
The Coxswain:
• Steers the boat, runs practice, gives technical feedback and helps execute the race strategy
Does it cost money to join the team?
The only Fee involved is registering for the PAC class

Do I need a physical before I may tryout?
How many people make the team and do I get to compete?
We typically select 35-40 athletes out of the 80-100 who participate in the tryout process
• We may increase those numbers if the athletic quality and competitiveness of the group is deep
• Everyone who makes the team will have an opportunity to race
• Our first race of the spring racing season is in early March
• The Pac-12 Championship Regatta is in mid-May
• We race in the most exciting, challenging, and prestigious rowing conference in the country – the Pac-12
• While the majority of our travel is along the west coast, we do travel all over the US and Canada
• Traveling for competition is definitely one of the highlights!
