Last Game
Kansas State scored one in the ninth to tie it and four in the 10th for a 6-2 win in the Corvallis Super Regional opener on Saturday at Goss Stadium. Ross Kivett doubled with two outs in the ninth and scored the tying run when Tanner Witt singled up the middle. K-State tallied 13 hits to six for the Beavers.
Conforto The First Since Jarvis
Michael Conforto hit his 10th home run of the season Saturday, becoming the first Beaver since Andy Jarvis to tally double figures in consecutive seasons. Conforto hit 13 as a freshman and his 23 home runs are already good for ninth in school history. Jarvis hit 12 in 2001 and 11 in 2002 and ended his career with 34, tied for the most in school history.
On Sundays
Oregon State heads into game two of the Corvallis Super Regional with a sterling 15-0 record on Sundays this season, including an 8-0 mark at Goss Stadium. OSU is batting .318 on Sundays, and holds opponents to a .210 clip. The pitching staff has a 1.83 ERA compared to a 7.23 mark for opponents.
After Losses
The Beavers have lost consecutive games just once this season - in both games of a doubleheader against Washington - and are 9-1 following a loss. The Beavers are 5-0 after a loss at home.
Elimination Games
Oregon State is 12-5 in postseason games where a loss would send the Beavers home (i.e. an elimination game) under head coach Pat Casey. Oregon State won four consecutive elimination games to advance to the best-of-three finale at the 2006 College World Series, then held off North Carolina after the Tar Heels won the first game of that series.
Barnes Continues His Streak
Ryan Barnes extended his current hit streak to 11 games with a single on Saturday, tying his longest streak of the season. Barnes is 21-for-45 (.467) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and 10 RBI during the streak.
Singles
OSU's loss Saturday snapped a 14-game win streak at home for the Beavers during the postseason. Oregon State dropped to 6-2 in Super Regional games all-time at Goss.
Saturday's loss was just the second for OSU when taking a lead into the ninth.
