Tyler Smith Taken In Eighth Round By Seattle In MLB Draft

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State infielder Tyler Smith has been selected in the eighth round (237th overall) of the MLB First-Year Player Draft by Seattle on Friday.
Smith is hitting .301 this season and has seven doubles, two triples, two home runs and 24 runs batted in in 49 games. He is also 9-for-11 in stolen bases.
A native of Thousand Oaks, Calif., it is his first career MLB Draft selection.
Oregon State has now had two players taken by Seattle since the draft began in 1968.
