Scott Crichton and Brandin Cooks Named to Preseason All-America Teams
June 6, 2013
Corvallis, Ore. -
Wide receiver Brandin Cooks, a recent selection as a co-team captain, and defensive end Scott Crichton have been named to the prestigious Phil Steele's Preseason All-America Team. The duo were both selected to the organization's third team; Cooks was one of only two Pac-12 receivers to be among Steele's four All-America teams while Crichton was among the three conference defensive ends to be among the rosters.
Cooks, a junior wide receiver from Stockton, Calif., is coming of a Pac-12 Honorable Mention season. He enters the year with 1,542 yards and is on pace to join Mike Hass and James Newson as the Beavers' all-time 3,000-yard receivers.
Scott Crichton has been selected to the 2013 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, an award that is presented to a defensive player who demonstrates integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity. He was selected to the Pac-12 Conference's First Team last season by the league's coaches and Honorable Mention All-America by Sports Illustrated. He is already tied for seventh in school history for career quarterback sacks with 15, tied for sixth for career tackles-for-loss with 32 and tied for second for fumbles forced with seven.
The Beavers return to the practice field in preparation for the 2013 season Mon., Aug. 5 for the start of camp. OSU opens the year at Reser Stadium against Eastern Washington, Sat., Aug. 31 at 3 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks.
