How They Finished
Oregon State finished the season with a 52-13 record, setting the school record for most wins and best winning percentage (.800). The Beavers finished the postseason 7-3, advancing to the program’s fifth ever College World Series. Oregon State went 2-2 in Omaha, ending the season as one of the last four teams in the nation still alive.
Pac-12 Title
The Beavers won their third league championship under head coach Pat Casey (the first two coming in 2005 and 2006) and the 24th pennant in the program’s history. Oregon State went 24-6 during Pac-12 play, winning it by two games. The team’s 24 wins marks the most by any league team since USC won 24 in 1996 and the .800 winning percentage is the best by a conference team since the then-Pac-10 unified in 1999.
Started Strong, Finished Strong
Oregon State started the year very strong, winning its first 15 games before seeing the streak end in a non-conference game to San Francisco. The Beavers ended the regular season on a hot streak, winning 16 of 18 games leading up to the Corvallis Regional. Since the team’s only losing streak of the season - a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Washington on April 20 - the Beavers went 23-7 (.767) over the last 30 games, including the postseason. Prior to that, the Beavers had been 29-6 (.829).
Draft Comes Again
Oregon State had seven players drafted by MLB clubs in early June, with all seven coming in the first 19 rounds of the draft. Three seniors were taken - Matt Boyd, Tyler Smith and Danny Hayes. The Beavers have now had at least three players taken every year since 2001 and at least one every season since 1993.
Some Records
Freshman Andrew Moore tied Scott Christman (1993) for the most wins in a single-season with 14. Moore went 14-2 and posted a 1.79 earned run average, which is the 10th-best mark ever by an Oregon State pitcher.Dylan Davis posted 86 hits, tied for third-best, while finishing with 61 runs batted in, tied for fifth. His 22 doubles also rank him in a tie for fifth. Matt Boyd, meanwhile, finished the season with 122 strikeouts, good for third, and ended his career with 216, tying Sam Gaviglio (2011) for 10th-most.
Individual Leaders

He’s the first OSU player to lead the league in home runs in consecutive seasons after tying for first with 13 in 2012. Andrew Moore, meanwhile, tied for the Pac-12 lead with 14 wins, the first Beaver to lead the league in that category since both Dallas Buck and Jonah Nickerson had a Pac-10 leading 13 victories in 2006. Matt Boyd paced the Pac-12 with a .197 batting average against and he also threw the most innings at 132 2/3.
At Home

There’s A Reason For That
Oregon State fans played a large role in the team’s success at home as the program set a single-season attendance average with 2,676 fans per home date. That’s almost 400 better than the previous record of 2,285 in 2011. The team saw 82,985 through the games at Goss Stadium, and totaled 12 games of 3,000 or more compared to just six of less than 2,000. Overall, in 2013, the Beavers play in front of an average of 3,543 fans per game regardless of location. Oregon State’s last 10 games avergaed 10, 922 fans, including a season-best 26,035 against Indiana in the College World Series.
