Daniel Werner Named to IRA All-Academic Team
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Oregon State senior rower Daniel Werner has been named to the Intercollegiate Rowing Association’s (IRA) 2013 All-Academic Team, it was announced by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tuesday.
To qualify for the team, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.35 or better, be at least a sophomore at their respective institution and be a varsity letter winner.
Werner, a native of Tillamook, Ore., was a key cog in the Beavers’ Varsity Eight each of the last two seasons. In 2013, Werner rowed primarily in the 7-seat of OSU’s top boat and helped the Orange and Black to a 17thplace finish at the IRA National Championships earlier this month.
He studies biology and carries a 3.38 GPA and was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team this year and was a second team selection in 2012.
