Seshia Telles Advances To Quarterfinals At Oregon Amateur

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon State rising senior Seshia Telles won her first two match-play events at the 104th Oregon Women’s Amateur Championship to advance to Friday’s quarterfinals.
Telles finished fifth in the 36-hole stroke-play qualifying that was held Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,185-yard Eugene Country Club to advance to match play. She easily defeated Kelsey Whiles 8 and 7 in the round of 32 on Wednesday before taking down Kate Hildahl in 19 holes on Thursday.
A native of Tualatin, Ore., Telles will face Kimberly Santiago beginning at 8:48 a.m. on Friday at the Eugene Country Club. The winner of that match will advance to the semifinals Friday afternoon. A 36-hole championship final will take place on Saturday between the two golfers who outlast the field.

Oregon State sophomore-to-be Ashlee Pickerell and rising senior Melissa Gibbons also advanced to match-play competition but lost in the round of 32. Pickerell fell to Morgan Thompson 4 and 3 and Gibbons was outdueled by Gigi Stoll 3 and 2.
