Last Game
Wes Rea doubled home two runs in the eighth to send Mississippi State to a 5-4 win over the Beavers on Saturday. Michael Conforto hit two doubles and went 4-for-4 with a walk in the loss. Andrew Moore started and allowed four runs in 7 1/3 innings.
Conforto’s Four-Hit Day
Michael Conforto became the first Oregon State player with four hits in a College World Series game in his 4-for-4 effort on Saturday. He doubled twice, and singled twice with a walk. Manning left field, he also threw out a runner attempting to score in the second, giving him eight assists this season.
Despite Scoring First
The Beavers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in Saturday’s game with a two-run first, and lost for just the sixth time this season when scoring first. The Beavers are 37-6 when doing so, and have an 18-3 record away from Goss Stadium.
Facing Off Against Louisville
Oregon State is facing Louisville for the first time in school history on Monday. The Beavers are 7-1 all-time against current members of the Big East Conference. OSU last played UConn last season, losing 6-2. The Beavers are 9-7 all-time against the Atlantic Coast Conference, where Louisville will soon reside.
Keyes’ Quiet Streak
Kavin Keyes tripled home a run in Saturday’s loss, and by doing so, extended his hit streak to a season-long seven games. The junior is 12-for-29 (.414) during the streak, and has four runs, a double, a triple and four runs batted in.
Singles
• Oregon State is 13-3 in one-run games after losing Saturday. The Beavers are 18-3 in games decided by two runs or less.
• OSU is 3-0 in games played on Mondays this season, and has a 1-0 mark in neutral-site games.
• The Beavers will be the home team against Louisville, winning a coin flip.
• OSU has not lost games over two or more days this season. The Beavers’ longest losing streak, two games, came in a doubleheader at Washington.
• Monday’s probable starter, Ben Wetzler, is on a nine-game winning streak.
• Dylan Davis needs one multi-hit effort for 30 this season.
