Last Game
Oregon State advanced to the College World Series with a 4-3 win over Kansas State on Monday. Ben Wetzler worked 7 2/3 innings and Matt Boyd 1 1/3 innings for the save to hold off a late Wildcat offensive push. OSU had led 4-0 early on.
Here’s To June
Oregon State has played well in the month of June, going 4-1. The Beavers are batting .320 and have hit four home runs to go along with nine doubles, limiting opponents to one and seven, respectively. The OSU staff has a 3.16 ERA and opponents are hitting .254.
Some All-America Honors
All-America honors have been pouring in after the Beavers’ Super Regional win. Andrew Moore was named a first-teamer by Baseball America, becoming the first OSU true freshman to ever be named to a first team. Michael Conforto became the fifth repeat All-American in school history when he was named a first teamer by Perfect Game. Matt Boyd, meanwhile, was named a third-teamer by both Baseball America and Perfect Game.
Starters Have Been Very Good
Oregon State’s starting staff turned in three quality starts during the Super Regional, giving the Beavers 37 on the year, which represents 60.6 of OSU’s games this season. The starting staff has ammassed a 37-6 record with a 2.10 ERA in 373 2/3 innings. They have an impressive WHIP of 1.03.
Barnes Stretches The Streak
Ryan Barnes extended his season-long hit streak to 13 games Monday with a single against Kansas State. The senior is 24-for-54 (.444) with 11 RBI during the streak, which is the longest on the team in 2013.
Singles
• Oregon State is hitting .309 during the postseason while the pitching staff has an ERA of 2.74. Those numbers are comparable to the 2007 national championship team, which had an average of .298 and an ERA of 2.57.
• Oregon State will play its 13th game against a current SEC school in the postseason. The Beavers are 6-6 in the previous 12.
• The Beavers are 15-5 against top 25 clubs this season and have a 10-2 record away from Goss Stadium.
• OSU is 14-5 on Saturdays.
• OSU is 12-3 in the home white uniforms.
