Last Game
Oregon State defeated Portland, 4-3, Wednesday night in front of 3,294 fans at Volcanoes Stadium. The Beavers scored three in the fifth for the victory. Tyler Smith each had three hits in the win. Smith doubled twice and Rodriguez had one to along with two runs batted in. Tony Bryant earned the win for the Beavers after going 3 1/3 innings, allowing two walks to go along with four strikeouts. Scott Schultz picked up his ninth save after allowing just one hit in the ninth inning.
Back To Pac-12 Play
The Beavers jump back into Pac-12 Conference play Friday when taking on the 25th-ranked Cardinal. The series will mark the 11th, 12th and 13th games for the Beavers against top 25 opponents. OSU is 7-3 against top 25 clubs this season, sweeping Arizona and taking 2-of-3 against Arizona State and UCLA.
Maintaining Pace
Oregon State's 38 wins through 46 games ties the 2005 Beavers for the most through that point in the season. Oregon State is striving to become the second team in program history with 40 wins in the regular season; the 2005 club had 41 entering NCAA Regionals.
Smith On Another Streak
Tyler Smith carries a nine-game hit streak into Friday night's game, tying a season-long. Both his streaks have seen him at a .400 clip (both at 16-for-40). During the current streak, Smith has three runs driven in, a home run, three doubles and two walks.
Bullpen Solid
The Oregon State bullpen combined for eight innings of work on Wednesday, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out nine. The team's bullpen has now worked 150 2/3 innings this season and has tallied a 2.03 earned run average. The `pen has 115 strikeouts to 50 walks this season.
