Volleyball Sweeps Home Spring Weekend

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Sara Almen led the Oregon State volleyball team with 36 kills over four matches as the Beavers swept four matches in a home tournament at Gill Coliseum on Saturday.
Almen hit better than 30 percent over the weekend as OSU defeated Western Washington (20-25, 25-19, 15-11)) in three sets and Seattle (25-13, 25-12), Western Oregon (25-11, 25-12) and Central Washington (25-16, 25-19) all in two. The sophomore-to-be also tallied three service aces and five blocks over the four matches.
Oregon State, as a team, hit 33 percent over the weekend. Laura Schaudt pitched in with 20 kills and three blocks while Amanda Brown tallied 17 kills. Kelsey Zimmerman and Haley Clarke each had 15 apiece with the latter totaling seven blocks.
Tayla Woods led the Beavers with six service aces; Oregon State finished with 15 in the nine sets played, an average of nearly 1.7 per.
Oregon State closes out its spring slate Saturday night against Oregon, starting at 7:30 p.m. PT. The match, which will be held at Gill Coliseum, is free to the public but fans are encouraged to donate $1 at the door to benefit the Corvallis Clinic and Project H.E.R. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the match.
