Last Game
The Beavers clinched their first outright league title on Sunday with a 7-6 come-from-behind victory over Washington State on Sunday. Ryan Barnes drove in the game’s winning run on a single in the ninth after Dylan Davis and Danny Hayes hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning. OSU once held a 4-0 lead but fell behind 6-4.
Beavers Dominate Pac-12 Awards
Oregon State won three league postseason awards on Wednesday for the first time in school history. Michael Conforto was named the league’s Pac-12 Player of the Year while Andrew Moore was named the league’s top freshman. Pat Casey earned his fifth career Coach of the Year honor.
Then There’s The First-Teamers
Oregon State had seven players named to the first team. Conforto and Moore were both selected as were pitchers Matt Boyd and Ben Wetzler, outfielder Dylan Davis, catcher Jake Rodriguez and infielder Tyler Smith. Both Conforto and Smith are back-to-back selections after being honored in 2012. Andy Peterson and Scott Schultz, meanwhile, were both named second team.
More On Davis
Dylan Davis ended the regular season with a Pac-12 leading 53 runs batted in. Should he manage to keep the league lead throughout the rest of the season, it would give OSU back-to-back RBI leaders after Michael Conforto led the Pac-12 with 76 in 2012.
Note On TV
Oregon State has been notified that the Corvallis Regional is one of a few selected by ESPN for possible inclusion on ESPNU after the first day of action. Decisions of if this will happen will occur on each subsequent day of the regional. To find out if this is the case, make sure and follow the official Oregon State baseball Twitter.
