Fischer, Sewell Receive Pac-12 All-Academic Recognition

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State women's golfers Rachael Fischer and Lauren Sewell were each named Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention for the second consecutive year, Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Thursday.
In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and must be a starter or significant contributor.
Fischer, a senior from Portland, Ore., has a 3.18 GPA in Civil Engineering. She played in six tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 80.66. Her best finish was a tie for 29th at the Rose City Collegiate and her best round was a 4-over 76 at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
After transferring to Oregon State from the University of Portland in 2009, Fischer posted a career scoring average of 80.58 in two-plus years with the Beavers.
Sewell, a native of Renton, Wash., carries a 3.39 GPA in Psychology. She had a scoring average of 77.00 this past season and recorded the third-lowest three-round scoring in school history with a 1-under 212 at the Stanford Intercollegiate where she finished in a career-best tie for third place.
The junior hasn't missed a tournament in her first three seasons at Oregon State and is currently sixth on the school's career scoring average list with a 77.23 in 100 rounds.
