Last Game
Oregon State fell, 10-9, in an 11-inning game Friday in the series opener between the Beavers and the Cougars. OSU held a 7-0 lead entering the seventh but allowed Washington State to score one in the seventh and four in both the eighth and ninth innings to send the game into extra innings.
Saturday Senior Day
Oregon State will hold its annual senior day on Saturday and it’s a big one. The club will honor nine seniors. Those seniors include: Ryan Barnes, Matt Boyd, Tony Bryant, Cole Brocker, Danny Hayes, Max Gordon, Tyler Smith, Joey Matthews and student manager/assistant director of operations, Patrick McLaughlin. The ceremony starts shortly after 12:40 p.m. and fans are encouraged to be in Goss Stadium by 12:30 p.m. to help honor them.
Streak Keeps Going
Oregon State’s opponents have failed to steal a base in the last 19 games dating back to April 17. Steal attempts have been almost as scarce as teams have gone for just 10 over that stretch. Jake Rodriguez has thrown out his last 12 steal attempts against after the Cougars attempted two on Friday.
Pac-12 Standings
Oregon State heads into Saturday with a one-game lead in the Pac-12 title race with two games to play. OSU can clinch at least a share with a win. The team’s magic number for an outright title is two; two OSU wins or one Beaver victory and an Oregon loss.
Andrew Moore Note
Oregon State’s probable starter on Saturday, Andrew Moore, has been lethal as of late and heads into the game on a six-game win streak. The freshman has allowed just 10 hits and two earned runs over his last 24 innings, a three-game stretch. That’s the equivalent of a 0.75 earned run average.
Singles
• OSU is looking for its 10th win of May, and in doing so, would have 10 or more wins in March, April and May for the first time since 2009.
• Oregon State has batted around in an inning five times in its last seven games after doing so in the first inning on Friday.
• The Beavers dropped to 3-1 in extra-inning games with Friday’s 10-9 loss.
• Friday’s loss was OSU’s first when leading into the ninth this season. OSU is 39-1 when leading after eight innings.
