Last Game
Matt Boyd and Tommy Thorpe dueled Friday with the Oregon left-hander coming out on top as the Beavers dropped a 3-0 decision to the Ducks. Boyd allowed seven hits, three runs and three walks in eight innings and fell to 10-3 on the year.
Look To Change That Trend
Oregon’s win on Friday night gave the home team a 10-game win streak in conference games between the teams. The only victory by the road team since UO reinstated baseball in 2009 came by the Beavers in 2009, 7-1. The teams played two neutral site games in 2009. OSU swept at home in 2010 and 2012 and the Ducks did the same in 2011.
Quality Starts Continue
Matt Boyd looked to be in trouble in terms of seeing his quality start - and the team’s - streak end after allowing three runs in the first two innings Friday. He, however, did not give up another two runs and allowed just two hits the final six innings. Why is this important? His eight innings of work kept the Beavers from having to go to the bullpen, keeping it fresh.
Streak Snapped
Oregon State’s win streak was snapped at 12 games on Friday. It was the Beavers’ second win streak of 10 or more games this season, a first for the club since the 2007 accomplished the feat.
Back To Day Games
The Beavers have played a considerable number more day games than night games this season, going 27-5 as opposed to 14-4. The Beavers are batting .290 as a team in day games while opponents are hitting .209. OSU’s staff has a 2.11 ERA while opponents have posted a 5.50 mark.
