Matt Boyd held USC to three runs in 8 1/3 innings and the Beavers rapped out 20 hits, led by Matt Boyd, who struck out 11 in 8 1/3 innings.
Gordon's Big Day
Matt Boyd threw a quality start on Friday, giving the Beavers 10 consecutive on weekend starts. Boyd has four straight himself while Saturday's probable starter, Andrew Moore, comes into the game with three straight.
Singles
Oregon State's 20 hits Friday is just eight shy of the Beavers' 28 overall against Washington last weekend. OSU had 27 hits over three games against Utah and 25 against UCLA.
Oregon State pushed its batting average to .287 with the 20 hits Friday. It came into the game with a .281 average. It jumped from .259 to .277 in Pac-12 Conference games.
Pac-12 opponents are batting .220 against the Beavers this season. In 2012, they hit at a .272 clip.
OSU is 22-3 when scoring first.
