Last Game
Oregon State closed out its series Washington with an 8-0 win over the Huskies Sunday afternoon at Husky Ballpark. Ben Wetzler worked a complete-game shutout of Washington, liming the Huskies to just four hits and a walk while striking out six. The Beavers utilized a five-run first inning in the win, sending 10 to the plate during the inning. Oregon State tallied 11 hits on the day, with all nine batters reaching base via a hit or walk.
Wetzler Continues It
Ben Wetzler's first career nine-inning complete game continued a lengthy streak for OSU's starting pitchers. The Beavers have received seven consecutive quality starts from its starting staff, and now total 18 on the year. Oregon State is 15-3 when that happens. By comparison, OSU's opponents have six and the Beavers are 2-4 when that happens.
Note On Monday's Game
Monday's game will be the first played by the Beavers at Seattle as nine of the 12 meetings between the teams have been played in Corvallis and three others at neutral sites. The teams will meet at 3 p.m., an hour earlier than originally scheduled.
Davis Swings The Stick Well
Dylan Davis had quite the week for the Beavers in the team's four games, three of which he played in. The sophomore batted .538 (7-for-13) with two doubles, one home run and two RBI. He had multiple hits in all three games, giving him a team-leading 18 on the year. It was fitting as he hails from nearby Redmond.
Multi-Hit Efforts
Oregon State had four players with two hits in Sunday's game, giving the Beavers 100 total multiple-hit efforts on the season. Dylan Davis (18), Michael Conforto (15), Kavin Keyes (11) and Andy Peterson (11) are all in double figures. By comparison, the Beavers had 90 multi-hit efforts after 38 games in 2012.
Streakin'
Sunday's offensive day pushed hit streaks further for many Beavers. Andy Peterson is at six games, while Dylan Davis (five), Kavin Keyes (three) and Max Gordon (two) all extended theirs. They still have a ways to go to match Ryan Barnes' season-long 11 gamer.
Singles
Oregon State is 19-4 in non-conference games this season, including a 10-2 mark away from Goss Stadium.
OSU is 18-0 when holding opponents to two runs or less, and 11-0 away from home.
