Last Game
The Beavers dropped a doubleheader to the Huskies on Saturday, losing game one, 5-1, before falling in game two, 10-3. Washington used an eight-run eighth inning to overcome a 3-2 Oregon State lead in the second game. In game one, the teams remained scoreless for the first five innings before the Huskies scored three in the sixth and two in the seventh for the victory. Michael Conforto and Dylan Davis both had multi-hit efforts in both games of the doubleheader.
Getting Back On The Saddle
Oregon State’s two losses at the hands of the Huskies Saturday marked the Beavers’ first two-game losing streak of the 2013 season. OSU is looking to avoid its first three-game losing streak since the 2012 season when the Beavers had it happen three times. The 2007 club, which won the College World Series, also dropped the first two games of its series with Washington. The 2006 title team won its first two versus the Huskies before falling in the finale.
Boyd, Moore Solid
Despite the two losses Saturday, both Oregon State starters were solid in picking up quality starts. The two quality starts extended OSU’s streak to six games with a quality start. Boyd and Moore combined to allow five earned runs in 12 1/3 innings Saturday, an ERA of 3.64.
Conforto, Davis Big Days Offensively
Michael Conforto and Dylan Davis, the No. 3 and 4 batters in the lineup Saturday, had a big day offensively. The duo combined to go 9-for-16 in the doubleheader with Davis collecting three hits in game two and two in game one. Conforto had two hits in both games.
Against Washington
Oregon State’s probable starter Sunday, Ben Wetzler, is 0-0 lifetime against the Huskies but has allowed the Huskies five earned runs in 14 innings pitched during his three-year tenure. The lefty has an earned run average of 3.21 against Washington.
Keyes
Kavin Keyes hit a triple in the second game Saturday, and is 9-for-24 (.375) lifetime against Washington. He has three doubles, a triple, home run and nine runs driven in against the Huskies.
Singles
• Despite the losses Saturday, the Beavers remain in first place in the Pac-12 based on winning percentage. OSU is technically half a game back based on the number of games played.
