Spring Football Day 10 -- Vaz and Mannion Featured
April 18, 2013
Corvallis, Ore. -
Don't bother asking. In so many words that is what head coach Mike Riley said to the media prior to the start of spring practice when questioned about who would start at quarterback if there was a game imminent.
The Beavers are fortunate to have two very capable starting quarterbacks, as witnessed last season, in senior Cody Vaz and junior Sean Mannion. The two combined for 3,926 passing yards in 2012 with 26 touchdowns and a 63 percent completion percentage. While both had injury issues at times last season, that hasn't been an issue in spring practice.
Both quarterbacks figure to have even more productive seasons this year with the added depth and talent of the offensive line, a solid corps of returning running backs and the return of wide receiver and All-America candidate Brandin Cooks.
The OSU video team had a chance to wire up both Vaz and Mannion at a recent practice and produced the following embedded video.
The Beavers will be back on the practice field Thursday at 11 a.m. and Friday will mark with the second scrum of the spring session.
The Spring Showcase is April 26 - all the details of the day which includes baseball, softball, track and the spring game can be found here.
