PERSONAL—Born 9/30/81 in Los Angeles, CA...son of Fitzgerald and Sonia Jacobs...his father is retired and his mother is a lab assistant...he has one older brother, Kevin, 25...he is in the College of Liberal Arts and is a liberal studies major...his brother played football for UCLA...enjoys basketball and paint ball shooting...Deion Sanders is his favorite athlete...selected OSU because, “OSU is a great school that offers an opportunity to excel academically and athletically.”
OSU—(2002—Junior)—Jason enters his junior season having played in 21 out of a possible 23 games, all in a backup linebacker role...he has also seen extensive play on special teams...Jason can also play safety…he has the speed to play in the secondary and the toughness to play linebacker…Jason and Nick Barnett, whom he backs up, are virtually carbon copies in size and the way they play...they form a very strong one-two punch...Jason has produced 31 career defensive points on 15 tackles, including eight solo...Jason reported to spring drills as the No. 2 strong linebacker and he will return to fall camp in the same role...during winter conditioning, Jason posted weightlifting marks of 455 in the back squat, 340 in the bench press, 297 in the power clean and 330 in the push press...his best vertical jump mark was 32.5 inches.
(2001—Sophomore)—Jason played in all 11 games as a backup strong linebacker behind Nick Barnett...he produced a total of 23 defensive points...he had 11 tackles, including six solo tackles...he had three tackles vs. UCLA, one at WSU, one at ASU, two at home vs. California and four at home against Northern Arizona....after playing at weak linebacker as a freshman, Jason moved to strong linebacker during spring drills…he opened spring drills as the No. 2 strong linebacker behind Nick Barnett…he reported to fall camp in the same position…in the winter program, Jason produced a squat mark of 410 pounds and 315 in the bench press and 286.6 in the power clean.
(2000—Freshman Redshirt)—Jason played in 10 of 12 games, including the Fiesta Bowl, as a backup weak linebacker and free safety…he was pressed into duty as a backup weak linebacker when James Allen, starting weak linebacker, suffered a low back injury in the first day of fall camp and was unavailable for play until the fourth game of the season…Jason also played on special teams during the season…he produced two solo tackles and two assisted tackles during the season for 8 points…he missed the Stanford and UCLA games, but played in the other 10 games… Jason has played both free and strong safety for the Beavers and reported to spring drills listed No. 3 on the depth chart at free safety...at the conclusion of spring drills, Jason was listed No. 4 at strong safety...in winter conditioning, Jason posted lifts of 365 in the back squat, 280 in the bench press and 264 in the power clean.

LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOL, Lancaster, CA—(1994-98)-Jason was Lancaster’s starting quarterback and free safety as a senior in 1998 and was part of the Eagles’ first graduating class...Lancaster was a new high school, playing only its second year of varsity football...Jason was part of a class that started out as freshmen and then played as a junior varsity program his sophomore year (1996), before moving to varsity football in 1997...was a four-year starter on offense and defense...in addition to football, he also earned two letters in basketball as a forward and two in track and field as a sprinter...he played free safety on defense as a junior and senior and flanker as a junior and quarterback as a senior, running an option offense...rushed for 597 yards as a freshman (11.7 average and eight touchdowns); 622 as a sophomore (13.2 average and six touchdowns); 693 as a junior (15.3 average and five touchdowns) and 502 as a senior (16.3 average and five touchdowns)...also completed 42 of 96 passes for 703 yards and nine touchdowns with eight intercepted...he caught nine passes as a freshman for 203 yards and three touchdowns...caught eight passes for 196 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore and six passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns as a junior...defensively, he contributed big numbers...as a freshman, produced 73 tackles, blocked six kicks, intercepted four passes, returned 10 punts for 64 yards and eight kickoffs for 65 yards...as a sophomore, produced 83 tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, seven blocked kicks, intercepted five passes, returned eight punts for 46 yards and nine kickoffs for 63 yards...as a junior, recorded 71 tackles, had two sacks, two tackles for loss, blocked six kicks, intercepted five passes, returned five punts for 51 yards and a touchdown and returned five kickoffs for 65 yards...as a senior, produced 84 tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, blocked eight kicks and intercepted nine passes...Jason ran the 40 in 4.4 in high school...played for Coach Ray Deshane at Lancaster...earned first-team All-Golden League and first-team All-Antelope Valley honors as a quarterback and free safety as a senior while leading the Eagles to a 9-3 record in Division III...Jason was selected second-team all-league on defense his junior year...Jason was selected to play in the High Desert all-star game in June, 1999...his best offensive game in 1998 was against Palmdale High School when he passed for 99 yards and rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns...his best game on defense in 1998 was vs. Antelope Valley, a game in which he posted 10 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, intercepted four passes, blocked three kicks and recovered two fumbles... “He is a player you get once in a lifetime as a coach,” said Deshane. “Jason is the type of athlete who could play anywhere. He was the best all-around athlete on our team, plus he is a good student and he is a sensational kid.”...he was also recruited by Utah, Utah State and Fresno State.
