PERSONAL—(pronounced ANN-tawn) Born 11/6/83 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada...son of Steve Clarkson and Irene Anton...his father is a quarterback coach and owns a company called Air 7...his mother is a school teacher...he has two brothers, Steve Jr., 21, and Spencer, 10...undecided on college major...his father played quarterback under former OSU Coach Dennis Erickson at San Jose State when Erickson was an assistant...his father played professional football for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL...Brett Favre is his favorite athlete...enjoys playing video games, collecting football cards and watching movies...his biggest athletic thrill to date has been playing in the “Clarkson vs. Clarkson” rivalry, as his dad coached at rival Palisades High School...selected OSU because, “great community and the opportunity to play for Coach Erickson.”
OSU—(2003—Freshman Redshirt)—After redshirting in 2002, Anton joined the competition for the role of No. 2 quarterback when spring drills opened...Anton had his bright moments during the spring but, for the most part, he was not consistent...he did not complete a pass in six attempts during the Spring Game and was sacked two times...he has a strong arm...he will report to fall camp as the No. 4 quarterback on the depth chart and will battle junior Adam Rothenfluh and freshman Danny Southwick for the backup role to Derek Anderson...Anton has posted weightlifting bests of 365 in the back squat, 295 in the bench press, 237 int he power clean and 237 in the push press...his top vertical jump mark is 26.5.
(2002—Freshman)—Anton spent the 2002 season as a redshirt quarterback and performed on the scout team.
VENICE HIGH SCHOOL, Los Angeles, CA—Anton completed his prep eligibility at Venice High School during the 2000-01 school year...his senior year of high school football was in 2000...completed his initial eligibility requirements during the 2001-02 academic year...he was a two-year starter at quarterback for Venice High School (1999-00) for Coach Angelo Gasca...he was selected for numerous honors during his two-year prep career...following his junior campaign, he was selected second-team all-city, first-team all-league (Western) and second-team all-region...as a senior, he was selected first-team all-city, first-team all-league and first-team all-region...he was named the Western League Offensive Player of the Year in 2000...in two years for Venice he passed for 5,497 yards and 55 touchdowns in 21 games...he also ran for 13 touchdowns...in 11 games during his junior season, Anton completed 118 of 190 passes (.621 percentage) for 2,512 yards and 27 touchdowns, including a long of 75 yards...he was intercepted only six times...he carried the ball 70 times for 125 yards and three touchdowns...in a 10-game senior season, Anton completed 155 of 235 passes (.660 percentage) for 2,985 yards and 28 touchdowns, including a long of 95 yards...he was intercepted only four times as a senior...Anton carried the football 122 times for 407 yards (3.3 average) and 10 touchdowns...all told, he accounted for 6,029 yards of total offense and 68 touchdowns in his 21-game career...he completed 273 of 425 passes (.642 percentage) for 5,497 yards and 55 touchdowns with only 10 interceptions, plus he carried the ball 192 times for 532 yards and 13 touchdowns...his top individual game as a prep was against University High School (Los Angeles) during his senior season...in that game he completed 20 of 24 passes for 406 yards and five touchdowns, plus he rushed for 55 yards on five carries for an additional touchdown.
