DIXIE STATE COLLEGE, St. George, Utah—Nik played one year of football for Dixie State College, starting at defensive end...he recorded 14 ˝ sacks, 9 ˝ tackles for loss and forced four fumbles...he earned first team all-league (WSFL) honors...played for Coach Greg Croshaw...Dixie State finished 10-2 and a perfect 9-0 in its league and finished the season ranked third in the final NJCAA poll...Nik earned JC Gridwire and NJCAA second team All-America honors and was a 2003 preseason first team JC All-America selection before deciding to attend Oregon State...he was named MVP in the Dixie Rotary Bowl after Dixie State defeated Butler County Community College 31-18...he earned Academic All-America honors at Dixie State with a 3.4 GPA.
OLYMPUS HIGH SCHOOL, Salt Lake City, Utah—Nik was a starter at defensive end as a senior for Coach Mike Miller at Olympus High School...he earned first team all-region 5 honors...he recorded 13 sacks and had 82 tackles, plus two interceptions his senior year...also was a starter in basketball for Coach Matt Barnes.
