2004: Kalavi (Kuh-La-vee) enters his redshirt freshman season as a linebacker prospect and is listed third on the depth chart at the middle position...he did have a lot of reps in spring practice due to an injury to Seth Lacey...a solid athlete who came to OSU as a quarterback prospect, before switching to receiver late in the 2003 season and then to linebacker.
2003: Redshirt.
LUTHER BURBANK: Started three years at quarterback and middle linebacker for head coach Chris Zermeno...missed a majority of his senior season due to a broken clavicle suffered in the third game...as a junior he was selected to the all-metro team and second team all-city...as an option quarterback, he rushed for more than 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior...also completed 83 of 131 pass attempts for 1,053 yards and 12 touchdowns...attended the OSU football camp in 2002...a three-year starter in basketball as a center...lettered one year in baseball and was on the school's club rugby team...was recruited to OSU as an "athlete."
PERSONAL: Born in Honolulu...son of Paea Kalavi...his guardian is Michael Lose (low-see), the father of former OSU standout offensive lineman David Lose...graduated from Luther Burbank with a 3.43 cumulative GPA...academic All-American...chose OSU because "It was a lifelong dream to play in the Pac-10 and a chance to get away from the city life"...undeclared major.
