Whyte Track and Field Center

The Whyte Track and Field Center opened in Sept. 2012. The ribbon-cutting ceremony represented another milestone to the rebirth of the OSU track and field program, reborn in 2004 after a 16-year hiatus. It is currently under construction in Phase II of the rebirth of the Beaver track and field program.Â
Phase I included an International Association of Athletics Federation certified Olympic-caliber polyurethane surface, a FieldTurf infield, a nine-lane track, high jump aprons, long jump, triple jump runways, pole vault and javelin runways, shot put throw sectors and dual discus rings.
Phase II of the donor-funded project was completed before the 2024 outdoor season. It included the installation of 1,200 seats in the bleachers, the majority of which are covered, a new press box and a new bathroom facility. The facility also has new grand entry, which connected the grandstands to the entrance and the throws and jumps areas, allowing fans to almost view the track from all sides. The shot put area has also been enlarged and the gravel lot paved into a parking lot outside the new grand entry
